NYC Service boosts SUN for COVID-19 Response

NYC Service & the Office of the Mayor have selected SUN as a recipient of the NYC Civic Impact Grant. The program is designed to promote increased volunteer engagement, specifically in response to COVID-19, with all funds to be expended by June 30 for immediate relief.

From the onset of the NYS “PAUSE,” SUN engaged volunteers Monday through Saturday to package and deliver meals, groceries, and produce to vulnerable communities throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Since April 1, the Food Access team and a host of partners have provided an estimated 140,000 meals to the community.

Our Civic Impact funding will not only support our volunteers with critical PPE, gloves, and cleaning supplies, but will provide at least 4 additional free food distribution events every Saturday in June.
